Matching Funds Campaign raises $50,304 for diocesan religious education departments - A total of $51,958.50 was raised to support the many agencies, programs and schools in 2013 through the annual Matching Funds Campaign, according to State Advocate Bob Byers, the 2013-2014 Matching Funds chairman. The funds for religious education departments in each Ohio diocese were announced at the Mid-Year District Deputies’ Meeting in January. Because of weather conditions around Ohio that weekend, only three of the six diocesan religion education directors were in attendance to personally receive their diocesan check. The biggest check -- $11,377 – went to the Cincinnati Diocese. According to Byers, 170 councils and eight assemblies participated in the campaign. Their donations amounted to $26,958.50, of which $25,000 was matched by the Ohio State Council’s Charity Foundation.
