Kenneth J. Girt

Kenneth J. Girt has been a Knight of Columbus for more than 32 years, all of them with Massillon Council 554 (Youngstown Diocese). He was he council’s Grand Knight twice – in 1987-1989 and again in 1997-1998. Girt 63, was born and raised in Massillon, receiving his elementary education at St. Barbara’s Catholic School. He was graduated from high school at Brunnerdale Seminary, Canton, in 1968, and went on to earn an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology at the Stark County Technical College in 1977. He served two years in the Signal Corps of the U.S. Army. Girt is employed by Ametek, Inc., as a Sales Engineer in their Floorcare & Specialty Motor Division, headquartered in Kent, Ohio.   He is starting his 37th year with Ametek.
He and his wife, Linda, were married in 1977. They have three children. At Massillon Council he was honored as Knight of the Year in 1986, and in 1994 he and Linda were honored as Family of the Year, and they were fourth runner-up in Supreme Council’s International Family of the Year. Girt served as a District Deputy in 1993-1995, then became involved with the Ohio State Council, serving as a State Director of Church, Youth, Membership, Family and General Program before being elected State Warden in 1994.
